Article 3: How to Add Polygon Network to MetaMask (Complete version)
Title: How to Add Polygon Network to MetaMask
Category: Wallet Setup
Content:
This guide shows you how to configure MetaMask to work with the Polygon network. You need to do this before buying or swapping wDINEC.
Why You Need Polygon Network
wDINEC runs on the Polygon blockchain. Your wallet must be set to Polygon Mainnet to:
- See your wDINEC balance
- Send and receive wDINEC
- Swap other cryptocurrencies for wDINEC
- Pay gas fees (small amount of MATIC required)
Step 1: Open MetaMask
- Click the MetaMask extension icon in your browser
- Log in to your wallet
- Look at the top of the MetaMask window. You will see the current network (usually “Ethereum Mainnet”)
Step 2: Open the Network Dropdown
- Click the dropdown menu at the top of MetaMask
- A list of available networks appears
- Click Add Network at the bottom of the list
Step 3: Enter Polygon Network Details
Fill in these fields exactly as shown:
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Network Name | Polygon Mainnet |
| New RPC URL | https://polygon-rpc.com |
| Chain ID | 137 |
| Currency Symbol | MATIC |
| Block Explorer URL | https://polygonscan.com |
Step 4: Save the Network
- Click Save
- MetaMask will add Polygon Mainnet to your network list
- Switch to Polygon Mainnet by selecting it from the network dropdown
Step 5: Verify You Are on Polygon
After switching, MetaMask should show:
- Network name: Polygon Mainnet
- Currency symbol: MATIC
- Your balance (if you have MATIC)
Alternative Method: Quick Add Using chainlist.org
If you prefer a faster method:
- Go to
chainlist.org - Search for “Polygon”
- Find Polygon Mainnet
- Click Connect Wallet
- Click Add to MetaMask
- Approve the request in MetaMask
What to Do After Adding Polygon
| Next step | Where to go |
|---|---|
| Buy MATIC for gas fees | Any exchange (Binance, Kraken, etc.) |
| Swap MATIC for wDINEC | Our Swap page |
| Check wDINEC balance | Return to MetaMask on Polygon network |
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Solution |
|---|---|
| Polygon not appearing in network list | Repeat Step 3 carefully. Check each field for typos. |
| “Invalid RPC URL” error | Use https://polygon-rpc.com or https://rpc-mainnet.maticvigil.com |
| Can’t see wDINEC balance | You need to add the wDINEC contract address manually (see Article 4 when published) |
| Transactions failing | You need MATIC for gas fees. Buy small amount first. |
Alternative RPC URLs (if the main one is slow)
| RPC Provider | URL |
|---|---|
| Polygon official | https://polygon-rpc.com |
| QuickNode | https://rpc-mainnet.matic.network |
| BlockPi | https://polygon.blockpi.network/v1/rpc/public |
Important Reminders
| Rule | Why |
|---|---|
| Always keep small amount of MATIC | Polygon requires MATIC for gas fees on every transaction |
| Do not send wDINEC to Ethereum network | wDINEC only exists on Polygon. Sending to Ethereum will lose your funds. |
| Verify network before transactions | Always check “Polygon Mainnet” is selected in MetaMask |
